Johan Hofmans is certified as a Monty Roberts Instructor, an Engineer (Agriculture), a riding and therapeutic riding instructor, as well as a trekking leader. Besides managing the first Monty Roberts Learning Center in France (Join-Up®, Follow-Up clinics, Introductory Courses), Johan and his wife Sylvie-Anne run a breeding farm and a certified riding school and training center for riding instructors and trekking leaders. As a Monty Roberts Instructor he wants to share the Monty Roberts philosophy with riders, in order to help them create a better relationship with horses. He is passionate about starting horses and dealing with remedial horses. Johan is fluent in Dutch, French, German and English.
Adrien is from Saint-Malo in Brittany, France where at the age of three he discovered horses and has loved them ever since! He started competing in Show Jumping at the age of eight, and was a member of the French team from the age of 18 to 23. It was around that time he discovered he preferred working to help improve the connection between the horse and the human. For this reason he tries to encompass Monty’s methods in all areas of working with horses. Adrien gained his certification in the spring of 2008 and is now teaching Monty’s concepts in France. In the future, Adrien is looking forward to focusing on courses for young children in riding centers. He believes that through children’s influence we can make a positive difference in the lives of horses.
JANA WIDDECKE LEURENT
The reason for Jana to work with horses is pure love. Horse sports and competition never made much sense to her and she considers the life with horses and moving together in balance as an artistic process. Jana is not only a multiple licensed trainer and riding teacher but has also studied photography and holds a degree in journalism, specialized in equine behavior. Jana loves to travel and can profit from demonstrating, teaching and lecturing natural horse training in eleven countries on three different continents. After spending three years with her husband in Brazil, teaching Monty Roberts classes all over South America, the couple settled down in southern France. They founded “Equine Dialogue – the Art of Communication”, based on part on the Monty Roberts principles. Fascinated by the possibility of a more intelligent use of our body Jana puts a main emphasis on the mounted work now. Bitless classical dressage is her passion to form healthy horses. Mental strength, emotion and stress management are her favorite topics to help people finding more balance on their horse or in their life. Jana offers the Join-Up® Class and the Monty Roberts Introductory Certification Course in France and Brazil and is happy to share her passion in English, French, German, Spanish and Portuguese.
The Introductory and Advanced courses provide a strong foundation in Monty’s methods. They are valuable in their own right, but are also part of the process to become a Monty Roberts Instructor.
The Introductory course can be completed with any of our Certified Instructors worldwide. Some teach it in different formats, but the content and qualification are the same. For some students, the Introductory Course provides all of the skill they need to be successful with their horses. For those who want to further their skills, or become professionals in the industry, the next step is the Advanced course, which can only be completed at Flag Is Up Farms in California.
All course offer students effective tools to communicate using the horse’s own natural language, forming a partnership based on trust and communication rather than dominance. Included in your course is a subscription to Monty’s Equus Online University. This online learning tool will give you a great start prior to the course and a greater idea of what you will be learning and doing in the round pen during your course. The ongoing education that you will have with the online lessons will suggest exercises to continue with at home while working toward your exams.
